ITEN Poland - The University of Warsaw

Established in 1816, the University of Warsaw represents a strong academic tradition in Poland. It houses over eighteen academic departments, numerous research centers and an extensive library.

ITEN-Poland is administered by the Center for Financial Law located within the Department of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw. The Center for Financial Law conducts research on the legal and economic consequences associated with the taxation of alcohol and tobacco products, and is particularly concerned with the harmonization of Poland's tax laws with requirements set forth by the European Union.

Through support funding from the William J. Fulbright Scholar Program and the International Research Exchanges Board (IREX), ITEN-Poland is committed to examining issues related to Poland's privatization of its formerly state-run tobacco industry, cigarette taxation, tobacco trade and cigarette smuggling.
