The ITEN supported research in Non-EU countries in Europe covers a full
range of economic issues with an emphasis on practical recommendations
for
public policies.
The research priorities include:

Examining the impact of tobacco use on poverty and social disparities.
2. Estimating the impact of tobacco prices and tobacco taxes on demand
for
tobacco products.
3. Estimating the impact of tobacco taxes on government revenues.
4. Examining issues related to smuggling of tobacco products.
5. Estimating the impact of tobacco control policies and other factors
on
the demand for tobacco products; primary focus is on gathering evidence
on
the impact of tax increases, introduction of advertising bans, and
establishment of smoke-free areas.
6. Examining issues in the privatization of the tobacco industry.
7. Monitoring the tobacco industry market strategies.
